Faktory ovlivňující míru úspor domácností ve světových ekonomikách
Kudrnová, Veronika
In our work, we focused on the determinants of household saving rates in the world economies. The determinants were divided into economic, financial, and socio-demographic factors. Based on theoretical assumptions and statistical tests, a panel model with fixed effects was created. We analysed 35 OECD countries between years 2000 and 2020. It was found that the determinants of saving rates and their statistical significance in regression analysis differ across all countries in the sample and in specific regions. Finally, based on the findings, recommendations for economic policy measures are presented.
Structure of savings of Czech households with a focus on investments
KUBAL, Vít
The main goal of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the structure of savings of Czech households based on the developed analysis. A secondary goal is the proposal of measures to improve the current situation. The first part of the work mentions various theoretical perspectives on the problem being solved. Subsequently, using own analysis, this work evaluates the rate of savings of Czech households, and especially their structure. The own analysis also includes two foreign studies that serve as a basis for research in the Czech Republic. Last but not least, the work contains a questionnaire survey that deals with the consumption behavior of the respondents as well as their knowledge in the area of investments. On the basis of a questionnaire survey, the hypotheses established by the author of the thesis on the basis of research questions are verified using statistical testing. At the end, the results of the own analysis are clearly summarized. The author concludes the work with his proposal for improving the current situation.
Faktory ovlivňující úspory domácností v České a Slovenské republice
Nedbalová, Pavlína
This diploma thesis deals with the discovery of factors that influence the household saving rate in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and the detection of any differences between these countries. In addition to the identification of significant determinants of saving, it investigates the development of Czech and Slovak household saving rate between 2000 and 2017. For this purpose a model is designed that describes the behaviour of the household saving rate over time, while allowing the prediction of values for the next period. Last but not least, recommendations on economic policy measures are set out on the basis of the findings.
Demographic Processes and Their Impact on the Rate of Gross National Savings
Rovný, Martin ; Potužák, Pavel (advisor) ; Chytilová, Helena (referee)
The main task of this thesis is to clarify the impact of demographics on the rate of gross national savings which is considered one of the main elements of economic growth. Demographic trends and theoretical background are presented, which contributes to the understanding of the relationship of savings and the age structure of the population. The assessment of the relationship is done based on cross-sectional analysis of data from period 2009 -2013 for 133 countries, while the effect of demographic forces is studied through dependency rates of unproductive population. In the analysis partial estimates and analogous research with the pre-crisis data are performed. The results suggest that demographic forces leading to the growth of dependency rates negatively influence the savings rate. However, the important role is played by the level of development of individual countries or regional specifics since the effect of demographics between developed and developing countries is considerably different.
The Development of Household Consumption in the Czech Republic in the Period 2002 - 2011
Rott, Michal ; Vostrovská, Zdenka (advisor) ; Vebrová, Ludmila (referee)
The thesis is focused on evaluation of the household consumption development in the Czech Republic in the period 2002 -- 2011. The objective of this work is to delineate main factors of decision-making of households on savings and on consumption in the period of economic boom and in the period of economic crisis. It is pointed out that the key determinant of the decision-making were primarily expectations. This factor contributed to a rapid consumer credit growth in the period of economic boom. In the period of economic recession, a considerable worsening of expectations (unemployment, further fiscal policy decisions) led households to gradual precautionary savings despite the year-on-year decrease in growth of nominal disposable income. Moreover, since 2011, the nominal disposable income declined. This analysis also shows that the factor of expectations influenced household behaviour more than the factor of banks' interest rate policy. This fact was notably evident in the recession when commercial banks responded to the change in rates of the Czech National Bank by lowering their consumer credit interest rates in a lesser extent. However, in this uncertain period of prudent stance of both banks and households, the consumer credit growth slowed down, moreover, it decreased in 2011. This piece of knowledge about this important role of expectations in the period of a great uncertainty that results in building up precautionary savings is indicated also by research papers from abroad.
